to our family my son is 23 years old and i cant remember there ever being a time when he wasnt nagging us for a dog. I have always said no, guess i am a terrible mum lol.  So yesterday he arrives home with his girlfriend and in his arms is a gorgeous black labrador, he is 10 weeks old. They bought him from a breeder i wont tell you the price, needless to say i could buy alot of books with that sort of money.  It seems he has been nagging his girlfriend's mum as well and she has agreed to let them have a dog live at her house.  She has just moved into her new home at Christmas so it didnt take son and girlfriend long to find Diesel.  He is going to be a very big dog when he grows up so i hope they know what they have gotten themselves into. Hmmm wonder if the grandparents will be asked to babysit

Oh Rabbit, I love labs!  I can just imagine how adorable he is.  And yes, you can count on being asked to babysit -- but make sure he's housebroken first!

I have to tell you all what happened this morning.

Diesel came yesterday for a sleep-over as dogs do   He slept all night without a peep out of him.  And at 7.00am this morning i woke up to him barking and screeching, yelping whatever you call it, scared the living daylights out of us four we all flew out of bed and out the door, son got to him first and he had our metal peg basket handles hooked on his collar and it was digging into his neck everytime he moved.  First look we thought it had pierced him but no he is fine.  Somehow he got the basket off the laundry trolley emptied all the pegs and got himself stuck.   His mother is telling everyone he nearly gave his Nan and Pop a heart attack this morning      What a way to wake up on a sunday morning    But he is so so cute he has this lovely face you just want to cuddle him.

Glad he wasn't hurt.
Here are a few dog stories for you.  When our lab/husky mix, Max, was a puppy, he ate a pin cushion.  Vet had to remove straight pins, luckily without surgery.  A few weeks later, he got a hold of a blanket with closed safety pins in it.  Opened them.  Swallowed them.  Back to vet.  She said, "Really, you need to keep pins away from him."      No kidding!  It wasn't like I was putting them in his dog dish.

Another time, he had a training collar on, nosed into the open dishwasher.  I told him to get out.  He jerked his head up, making the collar pinch him.  He took off, in a panic.  The bottom rack of the dishwasher was stuck on his collar -- making him more frantic.  Dishes scattered and broke as the rack bounced along.  The dishwasher rack ended up in the dining room before it came off.

He stayed out of the dishwasher after that.

Hehehehe loved your stories Susan.  Maybe Diesel will stay away from the pegs, one can only hope.  Last weekend on his sleep-over   he ate one of my plants.  Totally took it out of the pot and ate the lot.  It was one of a kind never seen them around here before so guess thats the end of that.

Rabbit, it's amazing what a dog can eat and get away with ... even when it's supposed to make him sick!  Our Max ate a chocolate orange (chocolate shaped like an orange and separates like orange slices -- actual orange sized) and never missed a beat.  I wouldn't have known if I hadn't found the foil it had been wrapped in on the floor!

My little Kiwi has a motto, if it hits the floor its mine.  She has tried several times to take the pill I dropped, has eaten onions, (just burped all day)garlic, burping again, chocolate, anything.  No wonder she is diabetic.

One garden has gone now he is trying his best to destroy the lights.  And when my son raises his voice he knowns and runs away hehehehe.  Its a pity he is growning so fast and losing his cute little puppy look, but he is still lovable
