Love Romances Book Review
On Blue Falls Pond is an amazing story of redemption and the healing power of love. Ms. Crandall has written a gorgeous, thought provoking book that is so much more than a simple romance.
Glory and Eric are two complex characters and the issues they wrestle with are the heart of this book. Glory had thought he's had the perfect marriage - until she finds home in Eric's embrace and starts to remember how wrong her marriage really was. It is only through Eric's gentle patience and kindness that she can face the demons of her past and learn to let go. Eric, on the other hand, battles a heart wrenching issue with his two year old autistic son, Scott. Ms. Crandall gets to the core of these issues with sensitivity and depth that will bring tears to readers' eyes.
With a southern, down home, writing style, Ms. Crandall captivates readers with the place she calls 'The Hallow' and 'Blue Falls Pond.' Through the use of this setting, Ms. Crandall introduces readers to the character of Granny, a woman who has lived in The Hollow all her life, and is as strong, wise and compassionate as the accompanying landscape. Readers will love this strong-willed woman who hikes through the woods, talks to her passed-on husband at the small cemetery, and exhibits a keen eye and heart for the world and people around her.
Reading a book by Ms. Crandall, is like watching a slow-motion black and white movie as it gradually blooms with color. On Blue Falls Pond is everything a phenomenal book should be: stunning, beautiful, chocked full of emotion and sensitivity, and a pure delight to read. Don't miss it!
Contemporary Romance Writers Book Review
On Blue Falls Pond is a splendid story about two lonely people with common small-town roots - with problems and worries... who discover they can't live without one another... who make Crandall's readers want to share in happy endings.
Susan Crandall should be proud! On Blue Falls Pond is a poignant, convincing story. Crandall absorbed me in her tale; she stirred me with her words; she made me believe. Her characters are well drawn and remarkably ordinary and this common ordinariness is Crandall's strong suit. Her setting and her characters ARE in every small town across the land - and THIS gives the reader belief - and the handling of the grandmother's character is true writing genius - creme de la creme!

Glory Harrison is the heroine of Susan Crandall’s newest release On Blue Falls Pond. She was born and raised in Dawson, and lived there until the one tragedy that forced her to leave. For two years Glory has been on the search for peace, and unable to find it.
Her grandmother, Tula has never left Dawson and has always had a very special connection with Glory. When Tula’s eyesight begins to fail Glory feels the need to come home and help in whichever way the very independent Tula will allow.
Life in Dawson is much the same as it was when Glory left. However, Glory’s return brings back to life the horrific night that changed her life forever. She has very murky memories of that night and the events that led up to it. As she, returns to Dawson her memories are slowly but surely returning.
Eric Wilson was the firefighter who saved Glory’s life. He had questions about the fire that changed her life, but has allowed himself to be swayed by the evidence instead of delving deep and potentially upsetting everyone’s life. Now two years later with Glory back in town, and her memory coming back that fire and the events leading up to it will continue to haunt both Glory and Eric.
Now someone is not happy that Glory is back and will not be happy until Glory's reputation and that of her family has suffered severe damage. Will Glory stand her ground, and stay or will she tuck tail and run? How will the accusations being flung at Glory affect her relationship with Eric? These are important questions to the story. They are also ones that I will not answer for you.
Susan Crandall has a talent for creating small towns that readers can easily visualize. Her secondary characters are well rounded and full bodied so that a person can easily imagine seeing these people walking down the street.
On Blue Falls Pond is an emotional read that will tug at reader’s heartstrings but in my opinion did not require having the box of tissues handy. I would recommend not reading if you are in a rush as you‘d want to ignore the demands of daily life to continue turning the pages.

The well-developed secondary characters are multi-layered, adding depth to the story. Granny is a marvelous elderly woman who gives of herself unconditionally, and uses some Southern expressions that are amusing. She is very independent and feisty. On Blue Falls Pond is an emotional, strong, and satisfying read, and one that readers are sure to enjoy. This reviewer will definitely be looking forward to reading Susan Crandall's next book.

... This book deals with a host of painful subjects including abuse, amnesia, autism, infidelity, divorce and macular degeneration. But the novel is also infused with a healthy dose of hope and optimism and this is what ultimately keeps it from being heavy and depressing. In the end, the story is about triumph over life's adversity and for this reason, readers are sure to love this latest offering from Susan Crandall. This is a well-written, compelling novel and I went to bed far too late reading this one... Rated 4.5... Book is Outstanding, a step above Exceptional, bordering on Superior...
