Romantic Times Book Review
   Four Stars
A good cozy mystery wrapped in a solid romance, Crandall's novel is both an easy and riveting read. Her tale is full of interesting and believable characters, and each person's story is intricately connected with another. Perfect subplotting and a dynamic conclusion bring this story and these characters full circle. The romance is sincere and heartfelt.

A childhood tragedy defines Abby Whitman’s life. She walks in her sleep and one fateful night a fire was started that burned her family home to the ground and left her younger sister scarred for life. Abby has always lived with the knowledge that she was the cause of the fire, even after growing out of the sleep walking habit. But recently, she discovers evidence that her affliction has returned and this time she may have killed someone while driving in her sleep.
In her search for answers, Abby meets psychiatrist Jason Coble. Jason wants to help Abby find the truth about the accident which killed a senator’s son and about what really happened the night of that long ago fire. His interest deepens and becomes personal but Abby is afraid of becoming close to anyone, especially to Jason, the man she loves. However, staying apart does not prevent the perilous menace that is haunting Abby.
Nail-biting suspense beckons the reader, wrapping us in tension and terror with each turn of the page. Award winning author Susan Crandall spins a spine-tingling tale that takes your breath away as it unravels one surprise after another. Primary and secondary characters are complicated, complete and oh so human with frailties and passions. Ms. Crandall totally immerses her readers in the dark setting and suspense of SLEEP NO MORE, a thriller that will definitely keep you awake.
When her Great Gran Girault caught Abby Whitman sleepwalking, she warned the family that the child was cursed before returning to her Louisiana Bayou home. Soon afterward Abby wakes up after sleepwalking to smell smoke. Everyone assumes she set the fire accidentally that permanently scars her sister Courtney and destroyed their home. Filled with guilt and fear that her Great Gran is right that she is a danger to her loved ones, Abby moves away from those she cherishes but remains nearby while Courtney moves to New Mexico living like a hermit.
In South Carolina psychiatrist Jason Coble kicks himself for missing the signs of alcoholism that his ex-wife Lucy has shown. He warns her he will seek sole custody of their seven year old daughter Brenna if she fails to get her act together; he wishes he could do likewise for his teenage stepson Bryce but has no legal connection though he raised the lad as his own son.
Abby awakes from sleepwalking to find herself in the driver’s eat of her car half sunk in a marsh; nearby is a dead motorcyclist who she fears she killed. When she meets Jason at the funeral of the grandmother of his former wife, they hit it off and she asks for his help. He agrees feeling a compulsion to help her learn the truth about the boy’s death and the cause of her sleepwalking.
This is an action packed romantic suspense thriller with one intriguing final twist. The support cast is too stereotyped and the romance enjoyable but unneeded as the focus is Abby who is terrific especially when she makes dumb decisions out of fear that she is a cursed monster. Fans will enjoy this tense tale as Abby learns it’s all in the family.

Susan Crandall has a deft way of understanding the very thing that makes us human. Whether it be our flaws, our loves, or just the way we view the world, you won’t be closing one of her books thinking how unrealistic it was. Pulling out every insecurity, she takes you on a journey of heartbreak, love, and friendship, and leaves you with a greater appreciation for life. The hero and heroine were relatable, and the romance between them believable. The secondary characters added nicely to the story, and readers are able to get inside their heads from time to time. This book not only showed the fears surrounding sleepwalking, but Alzheimer’s and phobias as well. The plot flowed smoothly, without any dead spots. In fact, Susan is so good at pacing a story that you won’t know when to take a break and put it down. The setting was great, placing this book in a small Southern town, and was illustrated beautifully.
A highly recommended read from a superb author!

Susan Crandall has created a complex heroine in Abby Whitman who while impressed me with her strength of character and resolve with respect to her life choices also tugged at my heart strings... Ms. Crandall is a new to me author and I found "Sleep No More" to have a number of unexpected surprises and she kept me guessing concerning the identity of the antagonist until very late in the story... If you enjoy a romantic suspense novel, you may like to give "Sleep No More" a try.
The Romance Dish
   Four Stars
Crandall has written another masterful mystery, filled with twists and turns... This is a terrific romantic suspense story that verges close to psychological thriller. Though there is a romance with a happy ending, I would have enjoyed a bit more attention to the emotional, and physical, growth of the relationship between Abby and Jason. I have no complaints about the suspense aspect of this story. It's tightly crafted, with a plot that flows smoothly and a mystery that kept me guessing well into the book. Even after I figured out “who-done-it”, I still had no idea how the rest of the story would play out. Sleep No More is an edge-of-the-seat thriller that kept me riveted from beginning to end.
Minding Spot

The 24/7 Mom
Remember I said I just opened the book this morning? I’m done. 400 pages read in one day. I’ll admit that I’m a fast reader, but I still had to stop to entertain children when they didn’t want to lay in bed, make lunch, make supper, all that good stuff. This was just one of those fast paced, can’t put it down type of books! Right from the first page I kept turning... Definitely recommended if you like a good fast paced thrilling romance!
Chilling, thrilling and very romantically satisfying, Susan Crandall's "Sleep No More" will entice you to keep turning the page! From page one I knew with some regret that this author was one I'd missed along the way. Ms. Crandall's talented voice rings out and her terrifying imagination definitely kept me guessing through the book (and my mind working overtime during a few uneasy nights!).

Crandall starts bogging Abby down from the beginning and darn near doesn’t stop until the very end... I have to thank the folks at Grand Central for introducing me to this fine author, and all in all, I enjoyed the Sleep No More and thought it to be full of nail-biting intrigue. I think fans of the genre will enjoy it very much.
With an intertwining of family issues, life’s daily drama, just a touch of faith and a huge dose of mystery this book provides it all. There is the conviction that nothing happens by coincidence but fate brings together everyone for some purpose and it can’t all be planned out – or can it? Ms. Crandall always provides a first class book but this one in particular had me reading with the lights on and making sure the doors were locked because not everything that goes bump in the night is the house settling.
Engaging right from the start, the characters and storyline never became dull or over worked. Instead, SLEEP NO MORE is a mystery with all the right elements of a page turner that begged not to be put down. Susan Crandall weaves an extraordinary web of suspense and intrigue, sprinkled with the right amount of romance packed with twists and turns. With well-drawn characters that are true to life, SLEEP NO MORE will have you missing sleep yourself so you can finish this page-turning tale.

Dear Ms. Crandall:
I liked Pitch Black enough to buy two other backlist titles of yours: Seeing Red and Back Roads. I found I liked your overall balance of suspense and romance so I was excited to read Sleep No More. The tone of this book was quite creepy...
        Nine Stars [Out of Ten]

A wonderful romantic suspense with a terrifying, edge of your seat read that makes you want to turn the pages faster than you can read. The mystery, the suspense and the romance knit together to make for a nerve-racking build-up throughout the book. I'll definitely be reading more of this author’s work.
